The nature and type of the application often determines which to use :-

• The Daisy OCX or the 'Full' component is intended, where the user is to be given full control of Daisy, with access to a comprehensive Help system.

• The Daisy NoHelp OCX or the 'NoHelp' component is normally used when a 'data-mining' window is to be added to a program.

Features are important too!

The Daisy NoHelp OCX has a reduced set of features compared to the Daisy OCX, which has a similar specification to the standard version of Daisy.

Features that are changed or removed include :-

1. The Help system has been removed.
2. HTML Charts can't be created.
3. Charts can't be saved as graphic files
4. Web pages can't be opened directly from the component.

Remember too, that all of the Help is available on the Internet.

There is also a major difference between the two components when you distribute the final product that incorporates them.

The Daisy NoHelp OCX is much simpler to distribute, just requiring a standard list of Microsoft components to be added to the installation file.

On the other hand the more complex Daisy OCX requires several components and the Help files to be added.

Lastly, there is cost!

The Daisy OCX is much more expensive than the simpler Daisy NoHelp OCX.

It also costs on a per user basis, whereas the Daisy OCX has an unlimited distribution licence.
