We have been asked why are there two versions of Daisy; 2003 (Soon to be 2004!) and 2004 4D.

The two programs have a lot in common and share many features :-

  1. A wide variety of databases can be opened and processed.

  2. Databases can be investigated and analysed in many different ways, using numerous mappings and aggregations.

  3. The same basic Daisy chart drawing capability is used.

  4. All templates created are compatible with both programs.

However they are also deliberately very different in their presentation and approach :-
  1. Daisy 4D is a database viewer in addition to being a full database analyser.

When you open the database, you are presented with a 'spreadsheet'-style view of the data.

  2. Daisy 4D also features simple sorting and summarisation of the entered data.

  3. Daisy 4D can process name and address databases to format and decode addresses, validate postcodes and telephone numbers and send messages.

  4. Daisy 4D can de-duplicate databases.

  5. Daisy 4D can send E-Mails and text messages to valid addresses in the database.

  6. Daisy 4D has been designed as a quick and easier-to-use program for smaller databases.

  7. Daisy 2003 can handle much larger databases.

Sizes depend on the power of the computer, but typically 10,000,000 is a limit for Daisy 2003 as against 100,000 in Daisy 4D.
