How the directories are used, is best illustrated with an example.

Consider editing files on the main Daisy Analysis web site, which has a domain name of www.daisy.co.uk.

Working Directory

The web site is mirrored in a directory on the local computer called the working or download directory.

By default, the program can set this to any of three preferred options :-

• C:\Program Files\Daisy Analysis\Daisy 2000\EBWork\daisycouk - The working directory is a sub-directory of where the program is stored.
• C:\EBWork\daisycouk - It is set to a sub-directory of the drive.
• C:\My Documents\EBWork\daisycouk - It is set to a sub-directory of My Documents.

1. The sub-directory EBWork is included in these defaults, so that your web site files are kept separate from other documents that might have the same or similar names.

2. The domain name is simplified, by the removal of dots and hyphens, when it is used to generate the directory name.

3. Choose which of the three forms of directory fits your achiving system best. You can of course enter any other directory into the program.

Thus, in our example, the file, http://www.daisy.co.uk/Turf2000/index.html will be stored in C:\EBWork\daisycouk\Turf2000\index.html.

Cache Directory

The cache directory is a second mirror of the web site, that is updated every time a file is uploaded to the web site.

This enabled FTP upload traffic to be reduced, if the file in the cache directory is checked first.

The directory follows the same rules to the working directory except that the identifying sub-directory is EBCache.
