It is recommended that you visit the new Daisy 2003 Web Site and look at Nodes and Links.

Daisy allows powerful comparisons to be made and links between factors and trends to be deduced and analysed.

As a qualified electronic engineer, specialising in control systems, James Miller has seen many applications of node and link drawings. (He also remembers an Ian Brown at Liverpool University in the 60's, who showed him a rather interesting linked chart on his girlfriend's wall!)

Consider the simple Daisy Chart used as an example.

The darker the link the stronger the factors that links the two nodes. (These can be seen much better, if you look at the larger version of the chart by clicking it.)

In the Daisy Chart, a lot of the links, such as those to OK and Fail, will always be strong. To illustrate what can be found in the chart look at the links leading from the Fault Type, Ring to Hours, 8 and 9, which are shown below in a Daisy Grid.

It turned out that the problem was that the Internet Service Provider did not have enough lines and that customers were having trouble, when demand was high. This was especially true early in the morning, as they logged in to collect electronic mail.
